Just a few things.

My mum has been acting slightly uptight today. I have no idea why. Snapping people's heads off for incredibly tiny things. It's very strange. Makes me look forward to going back to school.

I spent several hours this morning compiling tapes to listen to while I walk (or tram) to school. I was too busy/lazy to do it at any time last year, and I didn't know what to put on them. But this year I have enough stuff for five tapes. It's all good. I may publish my lists at some later stage. Request if you're curious! :)

I think I'm going to grow my hair again.

I have *almost* finished my summer project. It will be finished tomorrow. I think. I hope. Depends a bit on the price of photocopying, and the relative temptation level of the vending machine...

Do you think people are born motivated? Or is it something that happens when you discover new things? And can people be born apathetic, unable to change no matter what happens - people who will never care?

I think it's possible. Maybe. From my experience, anyway...

PS. Just in case you were interested, I'm the motivated one. The lazy-ass one will remain un-named, to protect ...the not-so-innocent. ;)

PPS. 16.5 hours left...

this is the latest...

Hmm.. Well..

I joined the gym for two weeks. I went twice. (Could've been worse! Especially as I don't drive...)
I got my hair cut again. It's all good.
As you may have guessed from my last update, I broke up with Alex. However, check out Sush's comment. She's right. And it was a good, positive short-term thing. (I was just feeling incredibly guilty when I wrote the update.)
Been shopping lately...New purchases include... *drum roll*
~ The U2 CD (Best of 1980-1990) that I've been meaning to buy for about three years. $14 off!! :) :) so good.
~ Rat Pack CD. For those who don't know, the Rat Pack is the term used for the guys Frank Sinatra sang with in Vegas in the fifties/early sixties, so Frank, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr and a couple of other guys. It's an *awesome* CD - and it was only $16! :)
~ Books. For school. But they're good.
~ An apple green t-shirt with elephants on it. It was expensive, but I just love it. There are lots of elephants all the same, in rows, and one in the middle is different! (I'm the different elephant. Of course.) Very cool.

Also, one of my best friends went overseas this summer (Melbourne > Paris > London > Scotland > Greece > Malaysia > Melbourne) and brought me back what is now one of my absolute favourite pieces of jewellery, from Harrods. Its an incredibly light sterling silver bracelet. She has great taste. I'm so glad she's back...I missed her a lot.

Movie of the year (well, my year anyway) is Amelie. Now I've seen it twice, I'm even more of a fan than ever, and am going to buy the soundtrack. It is beautiful, superb, funny and wonderful - a true feel-good movie that is intelligent and sparky and warm. And in French! What more could you ask...

I have to start hunting for a formal dress. Need to find my perfect, unique outfit (and a matching date) before April. Hmmm....

That seems to be about all, except to say I'm starting year 12 on Thursday. Only one day to go, really.

The rollercoaster ride begins...

Crash Test Dummy.

I was going to write another update
But then I lost it
Suffice it to say
I am a relationships disaster area
They should use me for a crash test dummy
It couldn't be worse than my real attempts.
I always end up hurting people...
The worst thing is when they know it from the start
And love me anyway.

To me that seems
Like bungee jumping
With a fraying rope.

What do people think? Is it ridiculous to enter a relationship knowing you'll break up? Especially if you keep pushing it into the back of your mind, pretending it'll work, ignoring the little voices...

(Tell me you guys have little voices too! ;) )

Ladies and Gentlemen...

(I am unashamedly stealing bits of Justin's layout here. Go check out his updates! : http://updates.takingitglobal.org/read/Justin)

Old Stuff:

I am still Eliza
I still resemble...whatever it was I resembled before.
I am still totally unfit (but I am joining a gym for 2 weeks...)
I still live in a crazy oversized house in the middle of suburban Melbourne, Australia, with my nutty family.
I still believe in beauty, truth, kindness, generosity and love.
(In other words, I'm still an optimist.)
I still say exactly what I think, and it still gets me into trouble...
I still wear denim almost all the time.
I am starting another year...

New Stuff:

I refuse to make New Year's Resolutions. However.
This year, I will work harder, play harder, be the best that I can possibly be, and drink less diet coke. (Except when I'm stressed, of course. Like...often. Anyhow...) And I will learn to relax when - and only when - it is absolutely necessary. Instead of being a slack ass half the time, and then panicking to the max when I'm reallly overloaded. (Step 1: Acknowledge the problem!! ;) )
These are not resolutions, simply things that I will do. (See, if I make them resolutions, then I'll feel justified in breaking them, cause everyone does. But if I promise myself I'll do them, maybe I actually will! Does that make *any* sense?! Ah well...)
I will do more flute practise, write more essays, read more books, and pay attention to politics properly. (Considering I'm taking it this year, that's probably a good thing.) I will spend less money on junk food (especially icecream. you guys do all know how much I love icecream, right?!) and save it up for ... stuff. Some big unknown project.
I will work my butt off to get into Arts/Law at Melbourne Uni, and obtain a scholarship to Trinity College so that I can MOVE OUT.

These are my plans. And dammit, I am sticking to them.

Love to all. It's good to be back online :) !

I'M BACK!! Yay!!

SO good to be online again you have NO idea!!

Anyways...welcome back to my world. I have much to catch up on here (as do you, my readers, obviously) including new pajamas, books, a serious hair cut (did i write that already? don't think so...) yay, um, upcoming events, like the start of year 12 and eventually the formal (it's in april, so not for a while yet. i refuse to get hyped, even if everyone else does. much.) I'm sure other stuff is going on. Lemme think...

Right. So here's my catchup. (Back to trusty dot-points!)

- I should introduce you to my boyfriend. I've been ignoring him online in case I made yet another serious dating mistake (current count is seven. it's not getting any bigger people!!) but apparently I didn't! Hurrah! So his name is Alex, and it's two and a half months now. He's a Melbournite (as in he lives in the same place as me) and is going into Year 12 next year too, at Melbourne High. I don't know how much to say here...I'll give you more details later. Approved ones ;)

- Year 12 starts in two weeks. BRING IT ON.

- Work at Nando's is awesome. (did i tell you i got a job?) People are laidback and nice, work is fun and easy, pay is good, and i love to cook. And I don't have to deal with any bitchy customers, as I work out the back. Like everything it has down points, but mostly it's all good.

- I got some wonderful Christmas and Birthday presents (yes that's right! my birthday! you ALL missed it!!) which I think will have to be the subject of another entire update as I'm out of time!

PS. I cut my hair. It's shorter. Nobody noticed, cause it's all curly anyway, so I'm having it cut again next week, I think. And maybe I'll get into straightening it with my (christmas present) hair straightener! :)

TTFN!
